Matehuala is a mining town about 435 years old with a population of approximately 100,000. It is situated three miles north of the Tropic of Cancer and is at an elevation of 5240 feet above sea level. The climate is mild and dry all year round, seldom going below 40ºF or above 80ºF. It's location makes it an ideal overnight stop to many of the important cities in Mexico.
